The company's facilities are located in Komotini, Thrace, an area famous for the production of high-quality cotton.
The company's plant consists of three ginning mills in one facility. The first, built in 1972, gins hand-picked cotton on low capacity machines. The daily production capacity of this unit is 200 bales (500 lbs./bale).
The other two mills were constructed in 1989 and 1993 respectively and each has a production capacity of 400 bales per day.
The company is included among the ginning mills with the highest ginning capacity in Greece. The company's annual production reached the historic maximum of 58,000 bales by processing 40,000 Tn of seed cotton. However, during the last few years, the annual production level of the company is restricted, because many new companies (ginning mills) started operating, resulting in significant spreading of the available seed cotton. Therefore, the lower supplies in seed cotton is not enough to cover the maximum capacity of our company.
A seed oil mill is in operation since February 1996. It processes 120 tons of cotton seed per day and produces 14.4 tons of crude cotton oil and 96 tons of cotton cake. It crushes not only the cottonseed that is produced in our own ginning mill, but also the cottonseed that is bought from other ginning mills.
Our facilities also include installations for drying the cottonseed in order to increase its storage potential , as well as machinery for the delinting of cottonseed.
In 1993, the company developed and constructed a gin waste burning unit to produce steam which was then used to dry the seed cotton and cotton seed, and to heat plant work areas. This innovation, which allowed the utilization of cotton plant wastes in order to produce energy within an environmentally friendly consept is currently adopted by many ginning mills in Greece.
